Race 7 start for the IRC fleet

Waglan 6-7

No wind off Middle Island, so the start was moved to Stanley where there was 7 knots blowing from the east. Sensible decision by the RO and, at 1135 six IRC boats set off on Course 11, followed five minutes later by four PHS boats.

At the Tai Tam mark, the anemometer said 9 knots – good news for both divisions. First home was the speedy DBX2 with its big, green kite contrasting vividly against a backdrop of haze. 1st in IRC 1 was ABC regular, Redeye, and 1st in IRC 2 was another ABC boat, Intrigue.

Winner of PHS A on handicap was DBX2. Great supporters of ABC racing, Rising Sun, won the B division.
The prize-giving at Middle Island incorporated the Commodore’s Christmas Cocktails and, with the help of Chef Paul’s mulled wine, carried on happily till nightfall.
